If it is…I’d call a professional.
I’ve spoken to many a companies and colleagues and still today we have senior staff that are apparently exempt from the rules. Really?…how does that happen? Their exempt from having to display their identification badge, their exempt from parking where employees have been designated to park, their exempt from abiding by the after hours access policy…and so on.
So where’s the cure? How do we fix it? Your best elixir is to go to the top; senior executive management. Success rate?…more than you think. A general awareness of the efforts being made by the safety, security, loss prevention, business continuity, enterprise risk management, risk management, asset protection…and all of those interrelated departments needs to have top management buy-in for a successful plan and execution.
It may take some time. Remember, just over a decade ago, many of the aforementioned departments didn’t exist in many companies. It is these same companies that don’t know how they survived without the input and dedication of these departments to make their businesses successful.
So treat the infection with a prescription of professionalism, best practices and even some rest. It won’t be long until the infection subsides and healthy loss mitigation strategies are strong again.
