Are you still taking or accepting a cookie cutter approach to your security and risk mitigation strategies?
Why?
Your business or organization may be similar in operation, location, demographics, political point of view and so on…but I can assure you it’s different.
So why are your strategies the same as your neighbour? Okay, let’s look at a few things…let’s just say that you have the exact same operation, equipment, and product. You’re in the same building, in fact you’re right beside each other. The only difference in your address is that you’re unit A and they’re unit B. Each of you have 100 employees, same amount of parking spaces and even the same hours.
So what’s the difference? Couple things do stand out. You actually have physically different locations. One thing may happen to one location but not affect the other. Between the two businesses there are two hundred differences alone that immediately stand out and that’s just the staff. That’s an important and big difference. There will be others to add to the list.
Looking at same or similar businesses and coming up with similar strategies is fine. They won’t be the same. They shouldn’t be the same.
Security and Risk strategies are not something you should be able to simply pull off the shelf. If we look to bakeries to have different cookies and cakes we should look to having a different strategy than everyone else.
