What does that mean?

I often find things that make me question the intent of either a sign, the placement of a fence, gate, camera, security guard, door and the list goes on.

What I have found lately are signs displayed for a specific reason that I’m not sure really are doing much.  Is this a Security Theatre situation, lack of budget or a “hope this works” kind of message.

Here is an example of such a sign.  Oddly enough there are no visible security surveillance cameras on the outside of this facility and the only cameras found on the inside are not even powered on.  So we’re watching…what?

What is the message we’re trying to send?  Will someone call us on this if something was to happen?  I’m sure most of you have heard or read how Police agencies in attempting to solve crimes seek out business and residences that have video surveillance to possibly help the investigation along.

Unfortunately this location won’t be able to help with any neighborhood crime, they won’t even be able to assist themselves.  If it was important enough to get, ensure you revisit your decisions, if the answer is still the same, then you need to find the committment to maintain those efforts.

Let’s hope you don’t have to use it, but if you do, let’s hope it points you in the right direction in solving or correcting your concerns.
