A neat catch phrase if you actually mean it.
Although it is a hard statement to believe in or to take your security efforts and programs seriously when you tack signs up with that specific statement on them and nobody pays any attention to them.
I recently found a printed sign, taped to a door, at the entrance to what this employer believed to be a security sensitive area and it read…”For Security Purposes Please Keep the Door Closed” What really impressed me was the final line at the bottom of the sign…it read “Thanks a bunch”. To add insult to injury. The door was propped open with a door opener/stop that has been installed on the bottom of the door.
If you were that serious about the sensitivity and security of this particular area here are a few things you need to do in my opinion. First remove your tag line “Thanks a bunch” from all of your security awareness signage, secondly remove the door opener/stop on this door in particular and install an automatic door closure on this door so that people don’t have to remember to close it, it will do it for them.
Not expensive, not rocket science, still convenient and addresses and reinforces your security policies and programs.
