Most people you have criminal intentions want to be able to get in and get out. They look for items that are easily transportable, high value, they look for vulnerable people or your unprotected or neglected key operations.
Your risk manager needs to be able to identify the organization’s assets that are vulnerable to crime. They must be able to anticipate the new opportunities created for criminals and devise countermeasures well in advance of a loss. New opportunities are those moments such as when you purchase a new property and/or building, change an operating process or even hire new staff.
The risk manager needs to have eyes in the back of their head. Being able to see what’s coming and going is essential. It is an exceptional skill that your organization can’t do without.
