This impact isn’t going to hurt. It’s going to help.
The security industry (and I use the term security somewhat loosely in this post) has undergone an enormous amount of change, blending and growth and continuous growth in a very short while.
So why do I use that term loosely. Well the word security has crossed over the boundaries of just physical security with electronic devices and uniformed guards into relatively speaking new areas as network security, business continuity and disaster recovery, enterprise risk management and so on. This is fantastic news. Especially with the influx of more technology based fields.
Combining the resources of greater technology, a younger workforce that is more technologically savvy along with the veterans of traditional security practices (which I might add, still are sometimes more effective than just using a chat forum) you have a fantastic formula that will not only embrace change but will create it.
The security world or in this case worlds, must embrace the new technological advancements that constantly appear. Integrating them with traditional practices only can enhance their results.
Strap a helmet on and get ready for impact. This is not to say that all of this corroboration won’t create it’s own challenges, because it will. But it’s the fact that we’re creating those challenges and the solutions almost simultaneously.
Might be a slightly bumpy ride…so where a seat belt, just to be safe.
